As a nonprofit, our long-time supporters are the heartbeat of our ministry. Consistent giving has a life-saving impact, keeping our Save the Storks Mobile Medical Clinics on the road, our partner clinics open, and always-on, life-affirming digital chat available to serve women in the moments they need it most.

Keep reading for our donor story from Patricia. She has been giving consistently since 2021. Her heart for giving is deeply woven into her own experience with abortion at a young age.

Life Society: Where Compassion Meets Action

Save the Storks exists to create a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.

We meet women facing unplanned pregnancies with compassionate care, practical resources, and life-affirming support, so no woman ever feels alone when facing an unplanned pregnancy.

Through our Mobile Medical Clinics, trusted partner network, and always-on digital resources, we make it possible for women to receive medical care, truthful information, and the support they need to choose life and thrive in motherhood.

Patricia’s Abortion Story

Patricia’s donor story begins over 50 years ago, in 1973. Just months after the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade. Patricia was among the first generation to be sold the lie that abortion was a quick and easy fix.

“That’s what I was told. It’s not really a person. So, you don’t really have to worry,” Patricia remembers.

Patricia was only 21 years old. She was unmarried, and the father of her child was married to another woman. Feeling overwhelmed and alone, Patricia believed the lies. She thought the abortion would fix everything and that she could return to her life unaffected.

Instead, the pain and guilt that followed caused Patricia to suffer in silence for years.

“I didn’t tell anybody. The only [person] who knew at the time besides God and me was the doctor,” says Patricia.

Her Post-Abortive Healing Journey

Nineteen years later, Patricia finally shared her story with her sister and brother-in-law. They responded with love, reminding her of God’s unconditional love and forgiveness. Patricia also connected with post-abortive healing through church groups and other resources.

Through sharing her story and finding community with other women, Patricia began to heal. Today, she gives intentionally in honor of the baby she never got to meet, hoping other women will not have to carry the same pain.

Why Patricia Gives to Save the Storks

Patricia knows firsthand how overwhelming an unexpected pregnancy can be, and she understands the importance of real support at that moment. That is why she chooses to support Save the Storks.

“I don’t want other women to go through what I did. I don’t want them to carry this. It can be extremely difficult for a woman to make a decision in an unplanned pregnancy. And you’re helping women choose life,” Patricia said.

Because of her experience, Patricia gives with a deep desire to ensure women are met with the options, compassionate care, and the resources she never had.

Why Monthly Giving Matters

“My baby would be 53 this coming October. It still hurts,” says Patricia.

More than fifty years later, women are still being told abortion is something they can move on from. And despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade, abortion pills have made abortion more accessible than ever, often without medical oversight or support.

This is why consistent giving is so important.

Through your generosity, things are changing. Women are choosing life, and fewer women have to face the pain of abortion alone.

Join Patricia in supporting women facing unplanned pregnancies.

DEAR READER

We hope this article enlightened and inspired you to stand up for life.

Despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade, abortions are still prevalent in our nation. As a response to the overturning, the media: from the news to entertainment sources to even political figures and celebrities, have pushed abortion as an ongoing agenda, shaping the way this generation thinks and acts. Misinformation is being spread every day, and people are sadly believing the lies.

Our articles and stories aim to tell one thing: the truth.

We know that it is both a blessing and a challenge to understand the reality of abortion, because knowledge incites belief, and belief incites action. But we’re in this together. We believe that we can make abortion unthinkable.

With your support, we look forward to a future where young women are empowered to fight for their own rights: a right to bring life into the world, to be fearless leaders, to be examples of hope, strength, and undeterred resilience. We look forward to a future where life can happen.

If this article strengthened your belief to reach women everywhere with the truth and to let life happen, then please consider helping us extend our reach by making a gift right now. Your gift of just $10 or $20 helps our mission to create a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.

We aim to create a culture that views “pro-life” as equivalent to having empathy and compassion, providing holistic care (before and beyond pregnancy) and education, and most importantly, choosing to speak and act in love. We are pro-life, pro-love, pro-woman, pro-solution.

Don’t just be part of the movement, be part of the solution, and give today.
