Save the Storks says pregnancy health clinics are uniquely positioned to offer women compassionate, life-affirming care

PLANO, Texas — As Planned Parenthood locations continue to shutter across the country and urgent care centers begin expanding into women’s services, Save the Storks applauds pregnancy health clinics for seizing this moment to meet women left by the closures with the compassionate, life-affirming care that no urgent care clinic can replicate.

At least 38 abortion clinics closed last year in states where abortion remains legal, according to data compiled by I Need an A. In response, some communities are turning to urgent care centers to fill the void. Save the Storks says that approach simply relocates a procedure-centered model under a different roof — rather than providing the holistic, compassionate life-affirming care women genuinely need.

“Women don’t need another version of Planned Parenthood,” said Diane Ferraro, CEO of Save the Storks. “Urgent care centers that add medication abortion services are not filling a gap — they are extending the same agenda under a different roof. Women deserve compassionate care, accurate information and practical support so they can make truly informed, life-affirming decisions.”

Save the Storks empowers women to choose life through a nationwide network of pregnancy health clinics that walk alongside women throughout and beyond pregnancy. While Planned Parenthood and now urgent care centers focus heavily on abortion, pregnancy health clinics fill the healthcare gaps that those providers have never addressed. They offer free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, prenatal and parenting support, material assistance, STD/STI testing, spiritual care and other programs — all at no cost to the women they serve.

“When a Planned Parenthood closes, it does not have to mean women are left without help — it can mean something far better steps in,” Ferraro said. “Pregnancy health clinics are already expanding to meet those very needs: providing medical care, practical support and emotional guidance, walking with women for the long haul in ways Planned Parenthood never has.”

Save the Storks also highlights the more than 100 mobile medical clinics currently operating across the nation as evidence of the pregnancy health clinic movement’s reach and innovation. These units bring frontline women’s care directly into underserved communities — including maternity care deserts, where access to obstetric services is severely limited.

In West Virginia, a mobile medical clinic is supporting women in a region where nearly half of the counties are maternity care deserts. The Women’s Care Center in Parkersburg received a mobile medical clinic from Save the Storks in December 2025 and has been taking it to serve the most rural counties, with the first mother coming to the clinic for an abortion pill reversal.

“Pregnancy health clinics have been building relationships, earning trust and delivering whole-person care long before any Planned Parenthood location closed,” Ferraro said. “Now, as women are left by those closures, these clinics are positioned to step forward and demonstrate what real women’s healthcare looks like — care grounded in dignity, compassion and hope. And that is exactly why this moment matters.

As urgent care chains set their sights on abortion services, Save the Storks’ nationwide network of pregnancy health clinics will continue to expand their visibility and outreach — not merely in response to Planned Parenthood’s decline, but as a bold affirmation that women deserve better than an abortion-first model of care.

DEAR READER

We hope this article enlightened and inspired you to stand up for life.

Despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade, abortions are still prevalent in our nation. As a response to the overturning, the media: from the news to entertainment sources to even political figures and celebrities, have pushed abortion as an ongoing agenda, shaping the way this generation thinks and acts. Misinformation is being spread every day, and people are sadly believing the lies.

Our articles and stories aim to tell one thing: the truth.

We know that it is both a blessing and a challenge to understand the reality of abortion, because knowledge incites belief, and belief incites action. But we’re in this together. We believe that we can make abortion unthinkable.

With your support, we look forward to a future where young women are empowered to fight for their own rights: a right to bring life into the world, to be fearless leaders, to be examples of hope, strength, and undeterred resilience. We look forward to a future where life can happen.

If this article strengthened your belief to reach women everywhere with the truth and to let life happen, then please consider helping us extend our reach by making a gift right now. Your gift of just $10 or $20 helps our mission to create a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.

We aim to create a culture that views “pro-life” as equivalent to having empathy and compassion, providing holistic care (before and beyond pregnancy) and education, and most importantly, choosing to speak and act in love. We are pro-life, pro-love, pro-woman, pro-solution.

Don’t just be part of the movement, be part of the solution, and give today.
