Free pregnancy services, trusted resources and local support can help women navigate mounting financial and practical challenges, group says

PLANO, Texas — Rising health care, housing and child care costs are adding financial pressure for expectant parents, making pregnancy increasingly difficult to navigate for families already managing household expenses.

A 2025 KFF analysis found pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care averaged $20,416 in total health costs for women enrolled in employer-sponsored plans, including $2,743 in out-of-pocket expenses. Newborn health care spending averaged another $5,820.

Those expenses can arrive as families confront other costs. Pew Research Center disclosed in June that 48% of working parents needing care for a child age 5 or younger had difficulty finding child care meeting their cost expectations.

In addition, housing can compound the challenge as some expecting parents face a “new parent real estate penalty,” with family-related costs potentially pushing them toward less expensive communities.

Against that backdrop, Save the Storks provides free pregnancy services through mobile medical clinics, connects women with trusted resources through its digital platform and supports pregnancy health clinics offering ongoing care and practical help in local communities.

Founded in 2012, Save the Storks works to reach women who may encounter barriers to health care access, including transportation challenges, limited local services and financial hardship.

“Pregnancy can bring enormous joy, but it can also bring immediate questions about medical bills, housing, transportation and how a family will afford child care,” Save the Storks CEO Diane Ferraro said. “No woman should feel that she has to sort through those questions alone. Compassionate care, practical resources and a supportive community can help her see a path forward.”

The organization says three out of four women who step onto a mobile medical clinic choose life. One mother, Emily, faced an unexpected pregnancy and found hope after seeing her baby during an ultrasound at a Save the Storks partner clinic.

“Financial pressure can make an unexpected pregnancy feel overwhelming, especially when a woman does not know what resources are available nearby,” Ferraro said. “Our role is to meet her with compassion, provide accurate information and connect her with people and services that can walk alongside her.”

Save the Storks says its mobile medical clinics and partner network are designed to reduce practical barriers and connect women with local assistance rather than leaving them to navigate pregnancy-related needs including the growing financial and practical challenges surrounding pregnancy and access to compassionate care, trusted resources and community support, which can help women move forward with confidence.

DEAR READER

We hope this article enlightened and inspired you to stand up for life.

Despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade, abortions are still prevalent in our nation. As a response to the overturning, the media: from the news to entertainment sources to even political figures and celebrities, have pushed abortion as an ongoing agenda, shaping the way this generation thinks and acts. Misinformation is being spread every day, and people are sadly believing the lies.

Our articles and stories aim to tell one thing: the truth.

We know that it is both a blessing and a challenge to understand the reality of abortion, because knowledge incites belief, and belief incites action. But we’re in this together. We believe that we can make abortion unthinkable.

With your support, we look forward to a future where young women are empowered to fight for their own rights: a right to bring life into the world, to be fearless leaders, to be examples of hope, strength, and undeterred resilience. We look forward to a future where life can happen.

If this article strengthened your belief to reach women everywhere with the truth and to let life happen, then please consider helping us extend our reach by making a gift right now. Your gift of just $10 or $20 helps our mission to create a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.

We aim to create a culture that views “pro-life” as equivalent to having empathy and compassion, providing holistic care (before and beyond pregnancy) and education, and most importantly, choosing to speak and act in love. We are pro-life, pro-love, pro-woman, pro-solution.

Don’t just be part of the movement, be part of the solution, and give today.
