Organization highlights fathers whose support helped shape life-affirming decisions and encourages men to embrace intentional fatherhood
PLANO, Texas — As the nation prepares to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the most monumental moment in pro-life history — the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling — national pro-life organization Save the Storks celebrates this win by remembering that with dedication and faith, anything is possible.
Key to this year’s celebration for Save the Storks is recognizing fathers who embrace parenthood with their “yes” to life, encouraging men to take an active role in supporting women and children during unexpected pregnancies.
According to the National Fatherhood Commission, children with involved fathers face lower risks of infant mortality, behavioral challenges, poor academic performance, substance abuse and criminal activity. A recent study also found that the family home plays a significant role in whether children retain their faith into adulthood.
In celebrating fathers who champion life, Save the Storks is spotlighting the story of Paul, a father who accompanied his girlfriend, Marissa, to a partner clinic after an unexpected pregnancy. During the initial visit, Marissa said she was considering abortion because of financial concerns and questions about timing. Paul remained present throughout the appointment and later expressed his desire to become a father.
Two weeks later, the couple returned for a follow-up ultrasound. After seeing their baby and hearing a heartbeat at a Mobile Medical Clinic, Marissa reconsidered her options and chose to become a mother. Clinic staff reminded her of the support available from Paul and his family. The couple later enrolled in parenting education and expressed gratitude for the care they received.
“For every mother facing an unplanned pregnancy, there’s a father facing the same fears, doubts and questions with her,” said Diane Ferraro, CEO, Save The Storks. “It may seem obvious, but in today’s culture, men are often left out of the pregnancy decision conversation. Studies show that when men step up, women are much more likely to choose life. This is what happened when Paul chose to bravely speak up at one of our partner clinics.”
Through pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, parenting education and compassionate care, Save the Storks and its partners work to ensure that mothers and fathers receive support, information and encouragement as they navigate unexpected pregnancies.
“Fatherhood matters, and fathers should never feel sidelined during an unexpected pregnancy,” Ferraro added. “Every day, we see how a father’s support, presence and commitment can strengthen a family and help create an environment where both mother and child are supported. We want men to know that their voice matters and that they have a critical role to play.”
Save the Storks exists to ensure that no woman facing an unplanned pregnancy ever feels alone. Save the Storks is a national nonprofit dedicated to empowering women with compassionate care, accurate information, and practical support so they can make informed, life-affirming decisions. Through partnerships with pregnancy health clinics, a growing network of mobile medical clinics delivering women’s healthcare directly to communities in need, and a digital platform providing always-on access to real care and real options, Save the Storks creates a story of hope for women and families across the nation.
