CEO Diane Ferraro points to mobile medical clinics, growing Gen Z engagement and support for women facing pregnancy decisions in Save the Storks’ work to address demographic decline
PLANO, Texas — Nearly one-third of Generation Z is missing because of abortion, according to statistics cited by Save the Storks, underscoring the urgent need to support women facing unexpected pregnancies and expand access to life-affirming medical care and support through its nationwide network of mobile medical clinics.
The organization says the demographic impact reaches beyond population trends, affecting families, classrooms and communities. More than 63 million unborn children have been aborted in the United States since 1973, including an estimated 26 million members of Generation Z and 24.5 million millennials.
Worldwide, approximately 132 million babies were born in 2025, while an estimated 73 million pregnancies ended in abortion, meaning roughly one-third of those conceived did not survive to birth. Save the Storks says those figures represent millions of lives, each with inherent value, that never had the opportunity to flourish.
Since its founding in 2012, Save the Storks has sought to increase access to compassionate medical care and practical support for women who may feel they lack the financial, emotional or relational resources to welcome a child.
The organization estimates that approximately 15,900 lives have been saved through its efforts since 2012, enough to fill 273 school buses, more than 650 classrooms or more than 30 elementary schools. In 2025, Save the Storks reported that the organization has served 58,700 lives through its national partner network and mobile medical clinics, providing women with medical services, resources and support.
“Every empty seat on a school bus represents more than a statistic. It reminds us of lives filled with God-given purpose and potential that never had the opportunity to flourish,” said Diane Ferraro, CEO of Save the Storks. “Our mission is to ensure women know they are not alone by providing compassionate care, practical resources and hope so they can make informed decisions for themselves and their children.”
At the same time, Save the Storks says it is witnessing increased interest among young adults in supporting women through pregnancy resource ministries and mobile medical clinics.
According to a 2023 Students for Life of America survey cited by Save the Storks, 52% of Generation Z respondents identified as pro-life or leaning pro-life, while nearly 70% supported pregnancy health clinics that provide tangible assistance to women.
The organization says today’s college students have grown up with unprecedented access to ultrasound technology, fetal development information and stories shared through social media, contributing to conversations shaped by science, compassion and personal experience.
Save the Storks partnered with New Jersey-based Options for Her to bring a state-of-the-art Mobile Medical Clinic to Princeton University after members of the student organization Princeton Pro-Life sought innovative ways to support women facing unexpected pregnancies.
Students toured the Mobile Medical Clinic, which includes a women’s examination room and ultrasound equipment, while learning how the ministry partners with pregnancy health clinics in more than 35 states. Ferraro also shared stories from women who received care through Save the Storks mobile medical clinics and national partners.
“Young people are proving they want to be part of a culture that supports both women and children,” Ferraro said. “When we equip students with truth, compassion and practical ways to serve, they become powerful advocates for women who deserve support throughout pregnancy and beyond.”
